C. Servilius M.f, 136 BC. Denarius (Silver, 21 mm, 3.95 g, 7 h), Rome. ROMA Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet and pearl necklace; behind, wreath and star (mark of value). Rev. [C]•SERVEILI•M•[F] The Dioscuri on horseback rearing in opposing directions, heads facing one another, each holding couched spear; above, stars. Babelon (Servilia) 1. Crawford 239/1. RBW 984. Sydenham 525. A beautiful piece of excellent style with an exceptional reverse. Light corrosion and with two small banker's marks (?) on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
