PHILISTIA (PALESTINE). Uncertain mint. Mid 5th century-333 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 3.07 g, 1 h). Hybrid janiform head, the left male and facing, the right female and in profile to right, both surmounted by lion crouching to right, head turned back to left. Rev. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette; linear devices in corners; all within linear square within incuse square. Gitler & Tal XIV.35Da (same dies). HGC 10, 599 var. (reverse symbols). Of the highest rarity, one of apparently just six known examples. Light cleaning scratches and with a test cut on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
