CELTIC, Central Europe. Boii. 2nd century BC. 1/3 Stater (Gold, 12 mm, 2.78 g, 11 h), early Athena-Alkis-series. Helmeted head of Athena to right. Rev. CEΓNVV; to lower left, ZE Athena Alkis standing left, brandishing spear with her right hand and holding shield with her left. Dembski 485. Flesche 422 (same reverse die). LT 9482. SLM 1136-1138. Very rare. An exceptionally complete example with a sharp and attractive obverse. Minor scuffs on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
