A perfectly centered 'Leerer Blattkranz' stater from the Vindelici
Lot 16
CELTIC, Central Europe. Vindelici. 1st century BC. Stater (Gold, 17 mm, 7.23 g, 12 h), 'Regenbogenschüsselchen', ‘Leerer Blattkranz’ type. Wreath formed of two branches with eight leaves going in opposite directions and with a disc at each end. Rev. Six pellets within torque with pellet at each end; all within cup-shaped incuse. Flesche 312. Kellner, Manching, type IV Aa. LT 9423. SLM 1081. Sharply struck and perfectly centered, very rare thus. Extremely fine.

From an important collection of Central European Celtic coins, ex Gorny & Mosch 228, 9 March 2015, 2.

This issue appears to have been made in great haste and with little care. Well centered and sharply struck examples, such as this one, are actually very rare.
