ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 411-340 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 14.98 g, 3 h). Head of Dionysos to left, wearing wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. ΘAΣIΩN Herakles, wearing lion skin, kneeling right and shooting his bow; before, kantharos; all within linear frame within circular incuse. HGC 6, 342. Le Rider, Thasiennes 23. An impressive piece of beautiful style. Harshly cleaned and with some scratches and delaminations, otherwise, good very fine.
