KINGS OF THRACE. Mostis, circa 139/8-101/0 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34 mm, 15.94 g, 12 h), RY 37 = 103/2. Diademed and draped bust of Mostis to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΜΟΣΤΙΔΟΣ / ΕΠΙ ΣΑΔΑΛΟΥ / ΕΤΟΥΣ ΖΛ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with gorgoneion; transverse spear in background; in inner left field, monogram. HGC 3.2, 1727 var. (date). Hirsch E-Auction 6 (2021), 575 (same dies). Peykov C4500. SNG BM Black Sea 309 var. (same obverse die, but differing reverse monogram and date). Very rare. Harshly cleaned and scratched and with traces of overstriking on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
