KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Stater (Gold, 21 mm, 8.30 g, 12 h), Byzantion, circa 100-96. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with gorgoneion; behind, transverse spear; in inner left field, monogram; on throne, BY; in exergue, filleted trident to left. Callataÿ Group 2B, p. 142 and pl. 38, I. Seyrig, Monnaies, pl. 24, 14. SNG Berry 414. A fresh, sharply struck and attractive piece. Light marks and with minor doubling on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
