LUCANIA. Thourioi. Circa 443-400 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.89 g, 1 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with laurel wreath with one ivy leaf. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩN Bull walking right; in exergue, fish to right. HN Italy 1775. SNG ANS 925 (same dies). A very rare variety. Beautifully toned and of excellent Classical style, and with a fine pedigree. Minor die break on the obverse and with a few faint scratches, otherwise, very fine.
