INDO-PARTHIANS, Margiana or Sogdiana. Uncertain, late 1st century BC-early 1st century. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 2.23 g, 12 h), imitating a countermarked drachm of the Parthian king Phraates IV (circa 38-2 BC). Diademed and draped bust of Phraates IV to left; being crowned by eagle flying to left behind; below head, 'countermark' with draped bust wearing Macedonian helmet to right. Rev. Archer (Arsakes I) seated right on throne, holding bow; below bow, monogram; around, blundered legend. HGC 12, 520. Sellwood 91.13. Senior 199.2D. Sunrise 494. Somewhat rough and with a minor edge crack, otherwise, very fine.
