DENMARK. Svend II Estridsen, 1047-1075. Penny (Silver, 18 mm, 0.78 g, 4 h), Ribe. Christ, nimbate, seated facing on throne, raising right hand in benediction and, with his left hand, holding book of Gospels on his left knee; around, traces of legend. Rev. Small cross within jewelled triangle; around, legend. Hauberg 69. Extremely rare. A well struck and beautifully toned example. Large flan crack, otherwise, extremely fine.

The 'seated Christ' type from Ribe (Hauberg 69) is much rarer than the 'standing figure' type (Hauberg 68)
