SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator, 312-281 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.75 g, 7 h), uncertain mint in the East, circa 280s. Bridled and horned head of a horse to right. Rev. BAΣΙΛEΩΣ / ΣEΛEYKOY Anchor; to left and right, monograms. CNG E-Auction 150 (2006), 154. SC -, cf. 256 (differing controls and of cruder style). Extremely rare, by far the finest of apparently only two known examples. An exceptional piece, with a superb obverse. Minor doubling on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
