Valerian I, 253-260. Aureus (Gold, 19 mm, 3.44 g, 6 h), Samosata, 255-256. IMP C P LIC VALERIANVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Valerian I to right. Rev. ROMAE AETERNAE Roma seated left on throne, holding Victory in her right hand and spear in her left; at her side, shield. Calicó 3442. Cohen 191. MIR 1678c. RIC 275 var. (bust draped only, 'Antioch'). Very rare, lustrous and sharply struck from fresh dies. Light deposits and with very minor doubling on the obverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.
