DYNASTS OF LYCIA. Kherei, circa 440/30-410 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 8.52 g, 6 h), Xanthos (?). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette. Rev. 𐊜𐊁𐊕𐊚𐊆 ('xepẽi' in Lycian) Forepart of a bull to right; all within incuse square. S. Hurter: A New Lycian Coin Type: Kherêi, Not Kuperlis, in: INJ 14 (2000-2), pl. 2, 8 (same dies). Mørkholm & Zahle -. Müseler VI, 6 (same dies). SNG von Aulock -. Boldly struck in high relief and with a powerful bull on the reverse. Traces of overstriking, otherwise, good very fine.
