Penny (Silver, 19 mm, 1.38 g, 9 h), pyramid type, moneyer Aleif, York, 1065-1066. ✠EADPARD REX Crowned bust of Edward to right, holding scepter. Rev. ✠ALEOF ON EOFERP Short cross voided, a pyramid ending in a pellet in the first, second and fourth quarter, an annulet in the third. BMC type XV a. North 831. SCBC 1184. SCBI 6 (Edinburgh), 692. Beautifully toned. Good very fine.
