SICILY. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. 50 Litrai or Dekadrachm (Gold, 13 mm, 2.88 g, 7 h), circa 305-289. Laureate head of Apollo to left. Rev. Charioteer driving fast biga to right, holding kentron in his right hand and reins in his left; in exergue, Φ. Bérend, Agathocle, pl. 9, 13 = SNG ANS 706 (same dies). HGC 2, 1286 (this coin illustrated). Jameson 859. SNG ANS 706 (same dies). A boldly struck, lustrous and exceptionally fresh example. A few tiny marks, otherwise, good extremely fine.
