CIMMERIAN BOSPOROS. Pantikapaion. Circa 370-355 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 14 mm, 2.57 g, 9 h). Head of a satyr with animal ears facing slightly to left. Rev. ΠANTI Lion crouching left, head facing, holding spear in its jaws; all within shallow circular incuse. HGC 7, 66. MacDonald 43. SNG BM Black Sea 863. SNG Stancomb 535. Very rare and in exceptional condition for the issue. A beautifully toned example with a wonderful head of a satyr. Slightly porous, otherwise, about extremely fine.
