KINGS OF PAEONIA. Audoleon, circa 315-286 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.28 g, 9 h), in the name and types of Alexander III, Astibus or Damastion, circa 300-286. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, trident. CNG 84 (2010), 334 = CNG 73 (2006), 175 (same dies). Price -. Waggoner, Further reflections on Audoleon and his Alexander mint, RBN 129 (1983), -, cf. 17 (same obverse die). Apparently the second and best example known. Sharply struck from fresh dies and with attractive light toning. Minor scuffs on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
