A rare stater from the Veneti in exceptional condition

CELTIC, Northwest Gaul. Veneti. 2nd century BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 7.49 g, 6 h). Celticized head of Apollo to right, with strings of pearls ending in miniature human heads coming out of his own head and with a hippocamp above. Rev. Charioteer, driving a cart drawn by a centaur to right, holding reins with his left hand and long branch ending in a vexillum-like banner in his right; below, winged male figure to right. D&T 2118. Gruel & Morin 41. LT 6830. Rare and in exceptional condition for the issue. A wonderful coin of magnificent Celtic style, sharply struck and without the usual die wear. Extremely fine.
