IMP GALLIENVS AVG GER Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gallienus to left, raising his right hand in salute and holding shield on his left shoulder; shield decorated with trophy between two seated captives above wreath. Rev. ORIENS AVG Sol standing front, head to left, raising his right hand in salute and holding globe in his left. Cohen -. MIR 1138w (2 examples). RIC -, cf. 496a (shield not described). Of the highest rarity and very likely the finest known example with this impressive bust type. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, about extremely fine.
