KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 8.37 g, 12 h), Byzantion, circa 100-96. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with lion's head; behind, transverse spear; in inner left field, monogram; on throne, BY; in exergue, filleted trident to left. Callataÿ p. 142. Müller 162. A lovely coin of unusually attractive style for the issue. Minor marks and with some light scratches, otherwise, extremely fine.
