PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy III Euergetes, 246-222 BC. Drachm (Bronze, 41 mm, 76.94 g, 12 h), Alexandria. Diademed head of Zeus Ammon to right, with ram's horn in his hair and over the diadem. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAIOY Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; to left, filleted cornucopiae; between eagle's legs, monogram of X and P. CPE B395. SNG Copenhagen 171-2. Svoronos 964. A splendid and unusually heavy example with a beautiful light brown patina. About extremely fine.
