ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Rhodos. Rhodes. Circa 125-88 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 14 mm, 1.20 g, 11 h), 'Plinthophoric' coinage, Antaios, magistrate. Radiate head of Helios facing slightly to right. Rev. ANTAIOΣ Rose with bud to right; to left, bunch of grapes; all within incuse square. HGC 6, 1463. Jenkins, Rhodian, Group D, 86. Beautiful iridescent toning. Minor doubling on the reverse and with light deposits, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
