SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. 10 Litrai (Gold, 10 mm, 0.66 g, 11 h), circa 406/5. ΣYΡΑ Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Attic helmet. Rev. Aegis with facing gorgoneion in center. Boehringer, Essays Thompson p. 16 and pl. 38, 9. HGC 2, 1290. SNG ANS 326. SNG Copenhagen 687. SNG München 1087. A very attractive example of this lovely issue with a superb reverse. Minor die rust on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
