ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. Yazid II ibn 'Abd al-Malik, AH 101-105 / AD 720-724. Pashiz (Bronze, 24 mm, 3.08 g, 3 h), Arab Sasanian type, citing Farroxzad ibn Gusnanos. DŠT (?) (Dasht Maysān), probably AH 104 = AD 722/3. Crowned and draped Sasanian-style bust to right, AFZUT GDH ('may his kingship increase' in Pahlawi); before head, PLHWZ'T Y GWSN'NWS'N ('Farroxzad, son of Gusnanos' in Pahlawi). Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants; to right, probably DST (mint name in Pahlawi); to left, date; all within triple circle. Gyselen 53. Rare. About very fine.
