SICILY. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. 50 Litrai or Dekadrachm (Gold, 15 mm, 4.29 g, 2 h), circa 317-310. Laureate head of Apollo to left. Rev. ΣYPA-K-OΣIΩN Charioteer driving fast biga to right, holding reins in his left hand and kentron in his right; below, triskeles running right. Bérend, Agathocle, pl. 9, 1 var. (triskeles running left not right). Gulbenkian 328 (same dies). SNG ANS 549. An attractive example with a beautiful head of Apollo. The reverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, about extremely fine.
