KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 38 mm, 16.67 g, 12 h), Mytilene, circa 188-170 BC. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram above lyre; below throne, ivy-leaf. Price 1736. Rare and struck on a very broad flan. Light marks and with a graffito of Aω on the reverse, otherwise, fine.
