SATRAPS OF CARIA. Maussolos, circa 377/6-353/2 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 15.13 g, 1 h), Halikarnassos. Laureate head of Apollo facing slightly to right with drapery below. Rev. [MA]YΣΣΩΛΛO Zeus Labraundos standing right, holding labrys in his right hand and long scepter in his left. SNG Copenhagen 590. Beautifully toned and struck in high relief. Light deposits on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.


From a European collection, privately purchased from Hirsch in 1991.
