A lightly toned Siculo-Punic tetradrachm

SICILY. Entella (?). Punic issues, circa 345/38-320/15 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 16.92 g, 10 h). Head of Tanit-Persephone to right, wearing wreath of grain leaves, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace; before, two dolphins. Rev. Horse standing to right; behind, palm tree with two date clusters. Jenkins, Punic, 112 (O38/R102). Lightly toned. Traces of overstriking on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.


From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s and privately purchased from Numismatica Arethusa (with original ticket).
