SERBIA. Stefan Uros II Milutin, king, 1282-1321. Gros (Silver, 21 mm, 2.00 g, 8 h), a contemporary imitation of a gros of Stefan Uros II Milutin. Stefan Uroš II standing facing on the left, crowned, holding akakia in his left hand, and St. Stefan, nimbate, standing facing on the right, holding book of Gospels in his left hand; both holding, between them with their right hands, long patriarchal cross; around, blundered legend. Rev. Christ, nimbate, seated facing on decorated throne and holding book of Gospels with both hands; in field to left, IC above M; in field to right, XC above T. Cf. Jovanovic, Srpski Srednjovekovni Novac, p. 39 (for similar imitations attributed to Stefan Uroš III). An attractive and particularly wild imitation. About extremely fine.
