SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Demetrios II Nikator, first reign, 146-138 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 21 mm, 6.33 g, 12 h), Tyre, SE 169 = 144/3. Diademed and draped bust of Demetrios II to right. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - [ΔHM]HTPIOY Eagle standing left on prow, wings closed and with palm frond behind; in field to left, club surmounted by city monogram; to upper right, ΘΞP above monogram. SC -, cf. 1963.3 (differing reverse monogram). Very rare and darkly toned. Darkly toned and with minor deposits, otherwise, very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s and privately purchased from Numismatica Arethusa (with original ticket).
