KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.63 g, 6 h), Ekbatana, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-295. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with serpent. Rev. AΛEΞANΔΡOΥ Nike standing left, holding wreath in her right hand and stylus in her left; to left, monogram; below left wing; forepart of horse grazing left; below right wing, monogram. Price 3893. Rare. Struck from slightly worn dies and with the obverse very slightly off center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
