Gallienus, 253-268. Aureus (Gold, 21 mm, 3.55 g, 7 h), Rome, 265. GALLIENVS P F AVG Head of Gallienus to left, wearing wreath of grain leaves. Rev. VBIQVE PAX Victory driving fast biga to right, holding reins in her right hand and palm front in her left. Alföldi, Soldatenkaiser, pl. 5, 15 (this coin). Alföldi, Weltkrise, pl. 3, 15 (this coin). Calicó 3599 (this coin). MIR 691b. Very rare and with a splendid pedigree. Plugged hole at 6 o'clock on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, ex Münzen & Medaillen 44, 15-17 June 1971, 108 and Hess, 9 May 1951, 244, and from the collection of the Dukes of Gotha, acquired in 1712 by Duke Frederick II (1676-1732) from Count Anton Günther II of Schwarzburg-Sonderhausen-Arnstad (1653-1716).
