SICILY. Gela. Circa 339-310 BC. Tetras (?) (Bronze, 15 mm, 2.70 g, 2 h). Head of Demeter facing slightly to right, wearing wreath of barley ears, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. Bearded head of the river-god Gelos to left, wearing wreath of barley ears. Basel 294 (this coin). CNS III, 59. Jenkins, Gela, 549. SNG ANS 123. Beautifully struck and with a splendid olive green patina. Extremely fine.
