Anonymous Folles, time of Romanus IV, circa 1068-1071. Follis (Bronze, 27 mm, 8.46 g, 6 h), Class G, Constantinopolis. Nimbate bust of Christ facing, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. Facing bust of the Virgin Mary, orans, wearing pallium and maphorium; in fields MHP - ΘV. DOC, p. 692-694. SB 1867. Attractive earthen highlights on a dark patina. Minor scratches, otherwise, very fine.
