MACEDON. Mende. Circa 460-423 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 16.55 g, 6 h). Dionysos, bearded and holding kantharos in his right hand, reclining left on the back of a donkey walking to right; to right, crow perched to right on bush with two flowers. Rev. MEN-ΔA-I-ON around vine of five grape clusters; all within shallow incuse square. Noe, Mende, 74 (same dies). SNG ANS 340-3. Beautifully toned. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, very fine.
