BYZANTINE OR CRUSADERS. Circa 10th century or later. Tessera (Lead, 14 mm, 1.49 g). Large cross flanked by palm branches (?), all within decorated border. Rev. Floral pattern with six stars in the fields, and one in the center, all within decorated border. Extremely fine.
There are not enough indications to safely identify this tessera as either Byzantine or western (Crusader), although the form of the cross would suggest the latter. It is probably some sort of a religious token or amulet.
