Diocletian, 284-305. Aureus (Gold, 18 mm, 4.82 g, 7 h), Rome, 293-294. DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG Laureate head of Diocletian to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. IOVI CONSERVAT AVGG / P ROM Jupiter standing front, head to left, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and long scepter in his left. Cohen 221 var. (no drapery). Calicó 4473b (same obverse die). RIC -. Very rare. An elegant and lustrous coin. Very light marks on the reverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.
