MYSIA. Lampsakos. Late 4th-3rd centuries BC. Tetrobol (Silver, 14 mm, 2.21 g, 2 h). Janiform female heads, each wearing stephane, and with a single central earring. Rev. ΛAM Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with a coiled serpent on the bowl. SNG Paris 1177-1178. SNG von Aulock 1293. A beautifully toned coin, rare with the serpent on Athena's helmet. Good very fine.
The serpent on the bowl of Athena's helmet was clearly copied from contemporary staters of Alexander III
