A nicely toned distater from Metapontion

LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 340-330 BC. Distater (Silver, 23 mm, 15.86 g, 10 h). Bearded head of Leukippos to right, wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with a charioteer driving fast quadriga to right on the bowl and a tiny hippocamp left on the side; behind, forepart of lion to right and AΠH. Rev. METAΠONTINΩN Barley ear with leaf to left; above leaf, vertical club with head below; below leaf, [AM]I. HN Italy 1574. Johnston Class B1.1. SNG ANS 431. Nicely toned and with a bold head of Leukippos. Very fine.
