Severus Alexander, 222-235. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 28 mm, 19.28 g, 2 h), Rome, 231. IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG Laureate head of Severus Alexander to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. PROVIDENTIA AVG / S - C Providentia standing front, head to left, holding two grain ears in her right hand and anchor in her left; at feet to left, modius. BMC 815. Cohen 509. RIC 645. A lovely piece with an attractive green-brown patina. The obverse slightly rough, otherwise, about extremely fine.
