A very rare and most attractive stater from Paphos

CYPRUS. Paphos. Uncertain kings, circa 500-480 BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 11.24 g, 7 h). [𐠡𐠊 / [𐠦𐠩 (?) ('bo-ka-ro-the' in Cypriot syllabic script) The river-god Bokaros, in the form of a man-headed bull, kneeling right, head to left. Rev. 𐠞 - 𐠪 ('pa-si' in Cypriot syllabic script) Astragalos. BMC 1 and pl. VIII, 1 and XXI, 2. Jameson 2334. Weber 7701. Very rare and in exceptional condition for this very difficult issue. A beautifully toned piece, very well struck in excellent silver and without the usual heavy obverse die wear. Good very fine.
