KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 8.53 g, 2 h), Babylon I, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-300. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with a griffin. Rev. BAΣIΛΕΩ[Σ] - AΛEΞANΔ[ΡOΥ] Nike standing front, head to left, with her wings spread, holding laurel wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; to outer left, MI; to lower left, monogram within wreath. Price 3479 corr. (griffin not sphinx). SC 81.3 corr. (griffin not sphinx). A lustrous and attractive piece. Very light scrape on the obverse and with very minor deposits on the reverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
