Clashed dies are encountered particularly often on Roman coins of the third and fourth centuries, when vast quantities of coins were struck on thin flans. Finding the same phenomenon on a relatively thick Pegasos stater from fourth-century BC Corinth, however, is exceedingly rare. It nevertheless shows how the technical challenges of coin production recurred time and again over the centuries
