Jugate busts of Bahram II and his queen to right; Bahram II wearing a winged crown with a great korymbos on top; long beard tied in the middle and thick tufts of curly hair at the back; two ribbons rising from behind head; the queen wearing a headdress with boar’s head; facing a small bust to left, wearing a headdress with eagle’s head. Rev. Fire altar flanked by Bahram on the left and the queen on the right, holding a ring; the symbol of ‘frawahr’, the guardian spirit of kingship and the emblem of the royal treasury, in the upper field to the left of the flames. Göbl type X/3. SNS II, type VIIa/5b [this obv./rev. combination not in SNS]. Very rare. Some corrosion, otherwise, very fine.
