Within wreath, in four lines: sulṭān / Aḥmad Shāh Qājār / al-sulṭān (‘Sultan / Ahmad Shah Qajar / the Sultan’ in Persian). Jewellers’ imitations of Qajar gold coinage in the name of Aḥmad Shāh were widely produced in Iran and continued to be manufactured well into the Pahlavi period, in some cases even up to this date. Their production reflects the enduring popularity and familiarity of late Qajar gold denominations in both commercial and ornamental contexts.
