Within a miḥrāb-shaped design, ‘lā ilāha illā / Allāh Muḥammad / rasūl Allāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); the names of the four Rashidun Caliphs in Arabic in two lines below, ‘Abū Bakr / ʿUmar ʿUthmān ʿAlī’; around, ‘fasayakfīkahum. ṣalla Allāh ʿalayh wa sallam’ (‘So Allah will suffice thee against them. May Allah bless him and grant him peace’ in Arabic); all within a circle. Rev. Within a lobated square, ‘ḍuriba / fī ayyām dawla al-sulṭān / al-aʿẓam Abū Saʿīd / khallada Allāh mulkahū’ (‘Struck in the days of the state of the Supreme Sultan Abu Saʿid. May Allah perpetuate his kingdom’ in Arabic); at the sides, ‘naʿama – Allāh – al-naṣr’ (‘May Allah bless victory’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘ḍarb – Ṭūs – sana – tisʿ wa – ʿashar – sabʿa – miʾa’ (‘Struck in Tus in the year 719’ in Arabic); all within a circle.
