The shipment of numismatic lots to the United States is subject to specific import and customs regulations. In order to ensure a transparent and reliable process, we invest in scientifically sound identification and description of the lots, comprehensive provenance research, as well as the complete and accurate preparation of all shipping documents and customs declarations.

Below you will find the most important questions and answers regarding import and shipping to the United States.

Yes, shipment is in principle permitted. However, the import of numismatic lots into the United States is subject to legal requirements—particularly those relating to the protection of cultural heritage as well as international sanctions and trade regulations. For lots originating from certain countries, additional requirements apply (see point 3 below).

We review the relevant U.S. import regulations and mark those lots that, based on our assessment, are eligible for shipment to the United States. This marking provides you with reliable guidance for compliant import into the United States.

The orange notice “This lot cannot be shipped to a US address” indicates that we cannot offer shipment to the United States for this lot.
Yes. Purchase is possible, however shipment to an address in the United States is not.

After the end of the auction, please either provide us with an alternative shipping address outside the United States or arrange for storage with us for safekeeping.

Please note: For storage exceeding 6 months, a fee of CHF 79.– per order will be charged (other agreements may apply).
There are two main categories of restrictions:

Sanctions law (OFAC):
Depending on the country/region of origin, trade with and import into the United States may be prohibited or subject to authorization. The applicable rules are set out in the current OFAC sanctions programs.

Cultural property protection / import restrictions (CPIA/CBP):
For certain countries, U.S. import restrictions apply to archaeological and ethnological material, which—depending on the category—may also include coins. In such cases, import is often only possible with supporting documentation (e.g. documented provenance or an export permit). The currently applicable agreements and restrictions can be found in the official overviews of the U.S. authorities.

Ja, grundsätzlich ist der Versand erlaubt. Die Einfuhr numismatischer Lose in die USA unterliegt jedoch gesetzlichen Vorgaben – insbesondere zum Schutz des kulturellen Erbes sowie internationalen Sanktions- und Handelsregelungen. Für Lose aus bestimmten Herkunftsländern gelten zusätzliche Voraussetzungen (mehr dazu unter Punkt 3).

In diesen Fällen ist die Einfuhr häufig nur mit entsprechenden Nachweisen (z. B. dokumentierte Provenienz oder Ausfuhrbewilligung) möglich.
